Growing up, I spent countless hours at my older sister’s dance performances. Her teacher was pure magic—the kind who could turn a recital into an unforgettable experience. I was captivated by the costumes, the sets, the way it all came together like a living painting. While dance was never my calling, I was undeniably a performer at heart. That passion led me from singing into scene design, prop creation, and stage costume design.
In college, my love for creating exploded. I became obsessed with the idea that I could bring anything I imagined to life. I sculpted glass, screen printed, shot photography, designed fashion, crafted props, and even explored early digital art—back when digital cameras ran on floppy disks! After graduating, I traveled extensively—living in California, New York, Rome, and Seattle—apprenticing with artists, absorbing new techniques, and exploring every corner of their creative world. Despite all those adventures, I always felt pulled back to Oklahoma. The art community here—especially in the Oklahoma City metro—has grown into something vibrant, dynamic, and deeply inspiring.
I worked as a teaching artist with Lorrie Keller from Theatre Upon a Star Dance Swan and for the Arts After School program through the Arts Council of Oklahoma City, and that’s what ultimately launched my career in art education. I became passionate about putting art into kids’ hands. I facilitated community engagement events, helping families tap into their creativity together. After my first year teaching in a public school in Oklahoma, I found myself in the Florida Keys—earning my master’s in education while building an art program from the ground up.
Today, I’m back home in Oklahoma, teaching at two schools in Edmond Public Schools—the same district that first nurtured my love for art. I believe that art enhances not just academics and critical thinking, but also social and emotional well-being. Creativity is a powerful, mindful practice that helps us connect with ourselves and others. Outside the classroom, I love sharing that same energy with my community through my paint classes. One of my favorite moments is when someone arrives at a class feeling stressed and walks away relaxed, recharged, and proud of what they’ve created. That emotional reset—that joy—is exactly why I do what I do.
I hope we get to create together soon!
